An Unreached Mission Field

When we think of a mission field, most of us imagine a third world country. While there are important mission fields all around the world, we believe the most overlooked, strategic mission field is right in our own backyard: the college campuses of America. There is a spiritual battle over the 20 million college students across our country. After interviewing hundreds of thousands of students for the past 35 years, we’ve discovered that 96% of college students are unfamiliar with the Gospel and remain unreached. At the same time, 47% of Christian Millenials are unwilling to reach their peers because they believe it’s wrong for them to do so.*

College is a crucial time to reach our nation’s future parents, business owners, politicians and leaders with the Gospel. That’s why we need to send more full-time campus missionaries who will plant collegiate-focused churches across America.

Our Strategy

Win the Battle to Belong

The Battle to Belong is the spiritual battle for students to experience real connection with others.

The reality is the majority of students on campus are not immediately open to the gospel. They may be open to exploring their faith, but they’re not yet ready to go all in and follow Jesus. On the other hand, we’ve discovered that almost every college student is looking for two things, whether they’re aware of it or not: they want to have fun and make friends fast. If we’re serious about reaching the next generation of college students, we need a strategy to help students feel like they belong even before they believe.

The Battle to Belong precedes and paves the way to winning the Battle to Believe in Jesus. It’s not just a good idea; it’s a life and death rescue mission. It’s impossible to exaggerate the urgency of this mission because students’ lives are literally hanging in the balance.

Win the Battle to Believe

The Battle to Believe is the spiritual battle over people to repent and believe in the Gospel.

There’s a battle in our culture about what it means to believe in Jesus. Over the last several years, Hope Church MVMT has interviewed over 400,000 college students on over 50 college campuses and we’ve discovered that 96% of students don’t have a biblical understanding of what it means to believe in Jesus.

Win the Battle to BEcome

The Battle to Become is the spiritual battle for students to become fishers of men (engage their peers with the Gospel) while in college.

In Mark 1:17, Jesus said to a group of young disciples, “Follow Me, and I will make you become fishers of men.

Consider these statistics:

  • 90% of all Christians in America will never share their faith with anyone in their lifetime

  • 95% of all Christians in America have never led anyone to Christ

  • Only 2% of Christians will invite an unchurched person to their church in a year

  • Almost half of Christian Millennials believe it’s morally wrong to share their faith with others.

What if we turned the tide and made it easy for college students to become fishers of men and women? That’s what being a Campus Changer is all about.
